What is Mindfulness:
Is constant worry about the future or the past stressing you out? It might be time to begin a mindfulness practice and come back to the here and now.
Mindfulness is our ability to be completely present in our thoughts, feelings and body sensations with full-acceptance and without judgment. Cultivating mindful attention will deepen your ability to be present, help you manage difficult experiences, and create space for wise choices in all areas of your life.
Even though every human being has this capacity, we rarely cultivate it. We so often operate on “automatic pilot” that we do not actualize our values and realize the joy, meaning and vitality that is available in the present moment.
Mindfulness will help you quiet self-criticism and doubt so that you can be more confident, productive, and happy. Mindfulness will also help you pay attention to your physical health so that you can tap into your body’s natural resources for healing while minimizing the negative impact of stress physically, emotionally, and mentally. Mindfulness is an amazing tool for stress management and overall wellness and can help people learn healthy ways of managing several common conditions including:
- Mood and emotional regulation
- Depression and anxiety
- Obsessional thinking
- Sleep disturbances
- Attention in concentration
- Managing cravings related to addiction
- Chronic pain
To stay present in everyday life, it helps to be deeply rooted within yourself; otherwise the mind, which has incredible momentum, will drag you along like a wild river.
